After being arrested on suspicion of drunk driving earlier this week, which resulted in a one car crash (there were also reports of marijuana and pills in the car), there were reports that the San Francisco 49ers may hold out linebacker Aldon Smith from today’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

That will not be the case as Smith is expected to play, per Ian Rapoport:

"From #GameDayMorning: #49ers pass-rusher Aldon Smith will play today, but he may play sparingly, per source. Adds a different dynamic."

Outside of actually being arrested, Smith hasn’t been proven guilty of anything (despite the obvious perception) so the 49ers may wait until the league hands down any punishment before they add in their own.

It’s just another bad decision in a long line of them for Smith, who previously already had a DUI in addition to legal woes stemming from a party which saw multiple people shot while Smith himself received a stab wound.

ESPN’s Ed Werder also confirms Rapoport’s sources that Smith will be on the field today and will start.
