When the Oakland Raiders take the field for their presumed bloodbath against the Denver Broncos on Monday night, they may be without a starting linebacker.

Starting LB Sio Moore has experienced a concussion, according to CSNBayArea.com writer Scott Bair, prior to leaving Oakland for the game, and as a result, he may miss the action in Denver. This is a significant blow to the Oakland defense, and to be frank, they can’t afford many significant blows when they face one of the league’s best offenses led by Peyton Manning.

Moore is a rookie from UConn who won a starting job in training camp, so the drop-off may not be severe to his back-up (presumed to be Kaluka Maiava), but it almost doesn’t matter. Denver will be deploying Wes Welker and Julius Thomas over the middle against those flooding Oakland linebackers, and for good measure, Denver’s three-headed running game will be kept fresh throughout the game.

We don’t have enough tape on Moore at this level to get a real gauge of how significant of a loss it would be if he were to sit out Monday’s game, but it can’t be a positive for Oakland. Hopefully, we’ll see Moore on the field for the Raiders, either way.
