Pizza caused Nate Burleson’s accident

When you first heard about Nate Burleson’s early morning (code for really late at night) single-car accident you probably assumed alcohol was involved. With the rash of NFL DUI’s and the day after hearing about Jacoby Jones being hit in the head by stripper with a bottle of champagne that probably was a safe assumption.

Burleson is a wise NFL veteran and alcohol wasn’t involved, but he was distracted behind the wheel.

From CBS Detroit:

The incident happened on westbound I-696 near Drake in Farmington Hills, police said, when Burleson was “trying to catch an object that was falling off his seat.”

He reached down to pick up the object later described as pizza and hit the median wall, Lt. Michael Shaw said.

Burleson was at fault in the one-car crash, Shaw said; but no ticket was issued. He was wearing a seatbelt in the 2009 GMC Yukon and the air bags deployed, police said.

“Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson was involved in a one car accident overnight,” the team stated in a press release. “Burleson suffered a broken arm and will undergo surgery today. Police confirm there was no alcohol involved. We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson’s condition becomes available.”

Fortunately just a broken arm was the only injury. It is heartbreaking for Burleson who came off his best career game in years catching 6 passes for 116 yards. He was leading the Detroit Lions in receptions this year.

If it was a Minsky’s pizza I would completely understand. If it was Papa John’s or Pizza Hut, letting it hit the floor and getting dirt and crap in it will only make it taste better. Zing!

hahaha, sounds like it must have been a Minsky’s Pizza
