Some awful news to report this morning and former NFL player Paul Oliver was found dead, allegedly after committing suicide.

Per the San Diego Union Tribune’s Kevin Acee:

"Former Charger Paul Oliver is dead at 29. Committed suicide … A good dude. Always enjoyed talking to him. Dang, this is sad."

Oliver was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, ranking as the number one cornerback in the country.

He had a handful of scholarships to pick from, but opted to stay close to home and attend Georgia where he was awarded with the school’s Most Improved Defensive Player Award after the 2005 season.

Unfortunately for Oliver, he was found academically ineligible and was forced into the supplemental draft where he was selected by the San Diego Chargers, where he spent the vast majority of his four plus year NFL career. Oliver also was a member of the New Orleans Saints for a very short period of time.

Out thoughts and prayers go out to Oliver’s family.
