The Carolina Panthers are coming off a big victory against the New York Giants. Unfortunately for the Panthers and wide receiver Steve Smith suffered a hip injury which is being labeled a “hip pointer.”

The injury shouldn’t be cause for too much concern. The Panthers are heading into their bye week. The entire Panthers team will be off of practice tomorrow.

The injury sidelined him briefly, he only missed a couple of plays. He was targeted seven times against the New York Giants and caught 3 passes for 40 yards.

He hasn’t proven to be an effective wide receiver for fantasy teams, thought that has more to due with the Panthers lack of success throwing the ball then him necessarily. Right now ESPN ranks them 32nd, or dead last, in the NFL with an average of 170 yards passing a game.
