This group of wide receivers for the San Francisco 49ers just can’t catch a break can they? No pun intended.

Rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton has reportedly fractured his foot in last night’s Week 4 victory against the St. Louis Rams. This team is already missing Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham, so this injury is the last thing they need right now.

Veterans Patrick Willis and Nnamdi Asomugha both sat out during last night’s contest, so right now if this team wants to get back to playoff shape they all need to get healthy and stay that way.

No word on how long the rookie will be out, but the fourth round pick worked his way up the depth chart until the 49ers figured he was worthy of starting opposite of Anquan Boldin.

With an injury like this, he could possibly be out majority of the season, if not the remainder of the season depending on how serious the injury actually is. They have 10 days in between games right now, so they have plenty of time to figure out what they’re going to do with Patton and who his replacement may be.

Cough cough, Randy Moss, cough cough.
