It’s only right that the long time rivals St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs end their regular season by playing each other in a weekend series.

Today’s start time for the second game of the three game series is 3:15 central time. Last night the Cardinals were able to clinch the division after shutting out the Chicago Cubs in the first game of the series.

With the division champions set to pick up game two of a three game set, soon to be free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran will not be in the lineup.

Beltran was removed from last night’s game after experiencing some soreness in his left wrist, so today is a well deserved off-day. Adron Chambers will get the start in right field and bat eight for the Cardinals today.

If it comes down too it, the Cardinals could choose to rest their everyday starters during tomorrow’s regular season finale as they prepare for the playoffs. That may not be the case as they are battling with the Atlanta Braves for home field advantage.

It’ll be interesting to see what they decide to do. You can’t let your guard down against the Chicago Cubs, they tend to play great baseball from time to time.
