The Buffalo Bills play host to the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon and they will once again take the field with a depleted secondary. There was a very slim chance that safety Jairus Byrd would be able to play in today’s game, but he is not expected to suit up and take the field.

From Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

Considering Byrd recently said that he wanted to make sure he was 100 percent before returning to the field, this really comes as no surprise.

It’s unfortunate to see how training camp and the start of the season has gone for Byrd, who is set to become a free agent next offseason, but that is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes and players and teams are constantly forced to adjust.

Whether or not Byrd can return for the team’s next game remains to be seen, but he will likely miss at least one more week.
