PIttsburgh Steelers have reportedly discussed firing Todd Haley

It has been a rough start to the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and offensive coordinator Todd Haley has been receiving a bulk of the criticism. While the Steelers offense showed some new life in last week’s match up against the Chicago Bears, it appears that Haley could be on some thin ice and he needs a big performance in Week 4.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on GameDay Morning, the team’s game in London is a “crucial week” for Haley.

He points out that the team has a by week following today’s game, which would give the new play-caller two weeks to get situated with the team. However, Rapoport did say that he doesn’t expect Haley to be fired, but the move has been discussed.

It will be interesting to see if Haley can feel his seat getting warmer and if that will make him open up the playbook and give Ben Roethlisberger more control, which could be what Haley needs to do in order to really jump start the Steelers offense.

The good news for the Steelers is that Heath Miller has a week under his belt and the team is set to get back the services of rookie running back Le’Veon Bell, so all of the pieces are in play for the offense to finally turn things around and get rolling in the right direction as Pittsburgh attempts to crawl out of their 0-3 hole.

Todd Haley never played football and golfed in college. How does that qualify Todd Haley to be calling NFL plays?

    • Butterfly Dragon

DNA obviously. His daddy worked for the Steelers for umpteen years so nepotism reigns.

  • Stanley Turner

I never likes Haley, however with a noodle of an offense line, & injuries is it all his fault? Poor draft picks in the last four or five plus years have come back to hurt this team. Colbert needs to go as well

The line was worse – at least less talented – when Arians was OC, but he found a way to move the football. Getting rid of him was a huge mistake.

Dick should go also, as poor as the D is playing…Tomlin too..just clean house..

you’re a complete moron- stop being a Steeler fan right now!! Get rid of the greatest defensive mind in football? And replace him with who? Who could do better with the players there now?

    • Butterfly Dragon

One of the stupidest comments I’ve ever read regarding Steelers football. LeBeau has proven himself over and over and over. He singlehandedly changed how defense is played in the NFL. He’s one of the greatest defensive minds to have ever coached. He has had the number 1 defense 4 of the last 5 years.

Haley hasn’t proven himself to be even an average coach.

Right now all the players are trying too hard and not playing disciplined football. And that’s because Haley sucks. He’s a horrible coach. He has horrible people skills. He has no idea what he’s doing and the players know it. So they’re trying to make something happen. That’s why the turnovers have been happening. That’s why the defense is getting caught out of position.

Get rid of Haley and the entire team’s attitude will change. Right now the players don’t believe in their coach.

And this is all on the Rooney’s shoulders because they’d rather show loyalty to Todd’s daddy by keeping his son employed than showing loyalty to the millions of fans they have and getting the best person for the job into position.

Tomlin first, the defense is a reflection of his philosophy not Dick’s. Haley’s offense isn’t bad when Ben is doing the play calling which should be happening as the O-line can’t protect him. Colbert gets too much credit remember Cowher had player personnel control when he was here not Colbert. Cowher drafted who he wanted and Colbert et al figured out how to pay them. BTW Tomlin wasn’t even a started at William and Mary so that doesn’t qualify him as a coach either and his player selection, game management, team discipline and team preparation proves he’s not qualified to coach a high school team much less the Steeler’s..

  • Marie Napolitano Bohn

I think Haley should go and Ben should call his own plays, like Peyton Manning does. They haven’t made the playoffs last year and probably this year, that’s when Haley came on board. Tomlin looks like he has no guts, not like Cowher did.

  • Treina Steelerz-Qt Garris

get him the eff up outta dere’

  • Lonnie Jones

    Make it SO……. NOW!

The whole team sucks at this moment, off. coord, head coach, QB, offensive line, defense, special teams. It is not only Todd Haley at this moment, those fumbles by Roethlisberger are not Haley’s fault, just grab the ball and that’s it. And firing at this moment Haley won’t do any good, the team needs to step up, specially the offensive line and Roethlisberger should start listening what Haley says and follow the system. The season is going to be over after the game against the Raider if they don’t win, so it’s that or keep playing like crap and not learning anything. Haley is 50% fault but the other 50% are the players, who are playing like crap and the head coach needs to do something now.
