Leslie Frazier says Christian Ponder is still ‘our quarterback’

Matt Cassel came in and started for the Minnesota Vikings and gave them their first win of the season in Wembley Stadium in London, England. Cassel played well too, he completed 16 of 25 passes for 248 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was only sacked once and had a 123.4 rating, the QBR though was a average 52 though.

That might have Vikings fans expecting a change under center, but head coach Leslie Frazier said that Christian Ponder is still this team’s quarterback.

Frazier did back of his comments and leave himself a little wiggle room.

Frazier should lose his job if he goes back to Ponder at this point. The entire team would mutiny on his ass and should if he pulls that crap! One look at that offense and the entire world knew who should be starting. As a lifelong Viking fan there better be #16 under center vs. the Panthers in 2 weeks…Ponder can still be the Vikings QB, but maybe on the 3rd string…

I’m sure it’s all smoke an mirrors. I mean it has to be right? There’s no way Leslie in his right mind would start Ponder in two weeks. Here Leslie I’ll help you out on this one. WR’s caught the ball with the ability to run after instead of making a circus catch before getting creamed. The D wasn’t able to stack the box because the 7 times the did Cassel was 7 for 7 not to mention when they play honest our fantastic RB gets yards. Hmmm imagine that. #69 got some sacks not because he just wanted to wait 4 games it’s because he and his buddies had decent rest in between series. There’s just a couple reason Leslie so no need to look at the tape on the QB change it needs to happen. What you should look at though is the horrid pass defense. You know the one that is really good at giving up final drives.

If Frazier goes back to Ponder he will lose the locker room and support of the fans. It is time for the Vikings to get over the fact that Ponder was a number one draft choice be objective about which QB gives the Vikings the best chance to win. That QB right now is Castle.

I think Frasier just kept his job for another week but if he goes back to Ponder after the bye, he should be fired. Maybe the competition will be good for Ponder and make him step up. Let Cassel run with it for now!

it is amazing how a coach in the nfl getting paid millions to do his job needs to rely on film to see the ineptitude ponder brings at the qb spot. cassle is not very good either, but atleast he finds and fits the ball to the wide receivers . something ponder has not done!
