Well fellow Chicago Cubs fans, we are once again without a captain on a ship that’s slowly rebuilding itself from the ground up. We’re in dangerous waters, surrounded by a league that’s practically ready for their own clubs to win that World Series title that has avoided us for over 100 years.

Now with Dale Sveum out of the picture, the hunt for our next manager has already started. Right now former Chicago Cubs catcher Joe Girardi is getting some serious interest from our loveable losers and honestly, I think it would be a perfect fit.

Yeah, we still have a lot of grooming to do but Girardi could be the guy who can finally get this ship sailing in the right direction. We have a group of prospects in the minor leagues right now who could continue to develop their skills while in the majors with a manager like Joe. But the New York Yankees are considered the heavy favorites to bring him back to their dugout.

He could take a year off to be with his family or get a very big contract to return to the Yankees. It’s a long shot, but something that could work out perfectly for the Cubs. With the money that the Cubs have, they could easily match or offer more than what the Yankees could offer him.

So what do you say Cubs fans, should the Cubbies give Girardi and offer he can refuse? Or try looking elsewhere for a manager who can take this major league club to the next level?
