When Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta went down with a devastating hip injury during training camp, it was so bad many questioned if he’d be able to continue his career.

The Ravens obviously all been deemed him out for the season, though, weeks later it was reported that Pitta could potentially see the field at some point this season and he’s currently taking the first steps to do so.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Pitta has been working on the JUGS passing machine:

"As his teammates worked through their final full practice of the week on another field, injured tight end Dennis Pitta stood about 10 yards away from the JUGS machine, catching ball after ball."

Of course, catching stationary (or relatively stationary) passes with the JUGS machine wouldn’t exactly be deemed on the path to a quick recovery, but for Pitta, any step towards playing is a step in the right direction.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Pitta has been running ‘quite a bit’ so it’s seeming more and more possible that Pitta may return towards the latter part of the season, assuming there are no rehab setbacks.
