Oakland Raiders and Josh Freeman flirting?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Josh Freeman ended their dysfunctional when they released him this week. The Oakland Raiders lost quarterback Terrelle Pryor to a concussion a couple of weeks ago and he was held out of last week’s loss to the Washington Redskins. He is set to return this weekend but the Raiders might be flirting with another quarterback, Freeman.

“You know, I’ve always been a fan of Josh’s,” Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said, per ESPN.com. “I have a lot of respect for him, as a person and a player, and it’s unfortunate to me to watch what happened in Tampa … really over the last couple of years.”

Olson was offensive coordinator when Freeman was drafted by the Buccaneers, and during his best NFL season.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that the Raiders are eager to replace Pryor with Freeman, but they demoted Matt Flynn to third string and could be looking for a more reliable back up this season.

They could also be preparing for a quarterback competition this offseason as well.

The Raiders don’t have any reason the pick up Freemnan. Missed the team photo and has been fined for conduct detrimental.

    • Stanley Carr

Yeah but if we can get him cheap, what’s d harm.. He is better than the backups we have now… I just think the Vikings will get him…

    • Anthony Rosales Sr.

Ummm……have you seen our backups???? Yeah josh would be an upgrade…… No brainer there buddy.

      • Bob

Yes I have see the RAIDERS back-ups. The Raiders don’t need a QB with problems “buddy”.

        • Jeff Grossfield

Greg Olson brings out the best in him.
He was the scapegoat in Tampa to save Schiano s job
and is better than any qb the raiders have on their roster.

          • Chris Schroeder

@jeff… Totally agree with you. All he needs is an organization that is not dysfunctional and another opportunity to prove himself. Look at what he has done for the bucs. last year he had over 4000 yards and 27 touchdowns. Phuck me if that dude ain’t a diamond in the rough. To all the TP fans… I love what Pryor brings to the Raiders. I think he will be a great football player but the Raiders would be stupid to not at least bring in Josh Freeman and let him compete considering he is already a proven NFL starter that can drive an offense. Dude torched us last year, remember that?

That would be a great fit for Oakland just for the fact that he’s a better QB than Terrell Pryor not as mobile as Terrell but definitely a better passer. That’s what Oakland needs someone to get the ball out and use the speed of these receivers. Josh Freeman’s definitely a top 20 QB in the league. With the right coaching.

Don’t need him he can be another teams future problem. TP needs time to develope not another distraction

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.. . Bring him in and let go of Flynn. Fk the dead money!! Flynn doesn’t deserve to wear silver & black

  • Djshiek

@chris josh freeman did not torch the raiders, Doug Martin did with 251 on 25 carries.

  • Jared Myers

Sign him and cut Flynn. Go forward with Pryor, Freeman, McGloin, in that order.
