The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Josh Freeman ended their dysfunctional when they released him this week. The Oakland Raiders lost quarterback Terrelle Pryor to a concussion a couple of weeks ago and he was held out of last week’s loss to the Washington Redskins. He is set to return this weekend but the Raiders might be flirting with another quarterback, Freeman.

“You know, I’ve always been a fan of Josh’s,” Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said, per ESPN.com. “I have a lot of respect for him, as a person and a player, and it’s unfortunate to me to watch what happened in Tampa … really over the last couple of years.”

Olson was offensive coordinator when Freeman was drafted by the Buccaneers, and during his best NFL season.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that the Raiders are eager to replace Pryor with Freeman, but they demoted Matt Flynn to third string and could be looking for a more reliable back up this season.

They could also be preparing for a quarterback competition this offseason as well.
