I’m not exactly sure what happened to New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning here. He drops back to pass and it looks like his right foot slides. His right foot was his plant foot and responsible for his weight and causes him tumble to the ground.

In an effort to prevent the Giants from losing yardage he throws it.Pretty sure that is intentional grounding. I don’t know because I wasn’t watching cause I couldn’t bring myself to watch the Giants and Eagles duke it out for NFC East mediocrity. Of course the intentional grounding penalty would cost the Giants 10 yards and a loss of down, so in reality throwing it hurt more than falling.

The protection looked good on the play and the Giants could have taken advantage if he didn’t slip.

Which brings up the caption SB Nation put on the GIF, it either is a mistake and they didn’t know it was intentional grounding and not unintentional grounding, or it is a clever joke on Eli Manning falling being unintentional.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.
