According to Pro Football Talk, Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw will have season-ending neck surgery. the 27-year-old sustained the injury in the Colts week 3 upset of the San Francisco 49ers.

Bradshaw, who had spent the previous six seasons with the New York Giants, was looking like a great pickup for the Colts earlier this season. In three games, Bradshaw was averaging 4.5 yards per carry and had rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

While his production will certainly be missed, the Colts were prepared for this, trading a first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for former third overall pick Trent Richardson. Richardson has 151 yards and 2 touchdowns in his limited time with his new team, but is only averaging three yards a carry. The Colts also have Donald Brown, who is averaging 8.3 yards a carry, but has only carried the rock 19 times this season.

The Colts are already missing running back Vic Ballard, who is out for the year with a knee injury.

Bradshaw has rushed for 4,418 yards and 34 touchdowns in his career.
