In Sunday’s loss against the St. Louis Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars number 2 overall pick, Luke Joeckel, suffered a season-ending ankle injury. It is expected that Joeckel will be getting surgery on his ankle sometime soon, but a date has not been set yet.

Joeckel’s presence on the field will be missed, as Jacksonville moved him over to left tackle to replace Eugene Monroe, who they recently traded to the Baltimore Ravens this past week. Due to Joeckel’s placement on the IR, the Jags picked up Sam Young, who was placed on the waivers by Buffalo. Young, a sixth round draft pick in 2010, is an offensive tackle who played in 22 games with Dallas and Buffalo. Of those 22 games, he started in just four.

Dwight Lowery, a safety for the Jaguars, was also placed on the Injured Reserve list Tuesday. Lowery was traded to Jacksonville by the Jets back in 2011, but hasn’t really been much of a factor in the secondary. He suffered a concussion very early on in the week 3 match up against Seattle, and hasn’t been able to fully recover from it yet. He hasn’t been cleared by doctors to play, and now that he is on the IR, won’t be seeing the field anytime soon. He started both of the first two weeks for the Jags, so they will also need to look for a replacement for Lowery.
