This Wednesday night the UFC returns with a solid free card in Brazil. UFC Fight Night 29 is headlined by grappling wizards Demian Maia vs Jake Shields. Maia has been on an absolute tear since dropping to Welterweight and he could conceivably earn a title shot with a convincing victory on Wednesday. Shields, meanwhile, is coming off a string of lackluster wins, one of which was turned to a No Contest after he failed his post-fight drug test. Hopefully being thrust into the main event against Maia will bring out the very best in Shields.

In the co-main event of the evening rising star Erick Silva takes on the always dangerous Dong Hyun Kim. Kim has absolutely dominated his last two fights, completely manhandling Siyar Bahadurzada and Paulo Thiago en route to decision victories. Erick Silva had a very nice bounce back performance when he made quick work of Jason High with a beautiful armbar. The UFC is definitely hoping for big things from Silva, so let’s hope he puts on a show.

The rest of the main card has some potentially exciting fights as well. Editor-in-Chief Josh Sanchez and I will break down each main card fight, stating our predictions for each fight on the main card.
