The New York Giants were expecting big things from running back David Wilson entering the year, but he’s never been able to consistently get enough carries to find his rhythm, and the ground game has struggled mightily do to it.

After fumbling the first game and getting into Coughlin’s doghouse early, Wilson has since played very tentatively, and has rarely made the explosive plays that led the Giants to spend a first round draft pick on him.

Now, the Giants may not have him for the next month, and possibly the rest of the year:

"A person informed of the injury now tells NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport the team expects Wilson to be out three weeks. There is a possibility the injury could end his season, pending a consultation with spinal surgeon Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles."

Expect to see a lot of Da’Rel Scott and Brandon Jacobs getting a lot of touches over the next few weeks. The team may sign another player at some point as well.
