As people search for a reason for why Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is absent from practice, Pro Football Talk has been able to confirm that the star rusher is dealing with a very serious family matter.

Mike Florio writes:

"Adrian Peterson is indeed dealing with a personal situation that a source close to Peterson describes as “tragic.”The source declined to share any further details, explaining that it’s a subject Peterson will address at the appropriate time."

As was pointed out earlier, there is a police report that involves a man charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant, while a toddler is reportedly in critical condition in Souix Falls, South Dakota where Peterson is currently at.

Whether or not the two are connected remains to be seen, but it is important to remember that a child is seriously hurt and Peterson is dealing with a “tragic matter” of his own.

At this point, his availability for this week’s game is not the issue at hand.

Let’s all just send our positive wishes to Peterson and his family as the situation develops.
