Christian Ponder frustrated with Vikings QB situation
By Josh Sanchez
The Minnesota Vikings quarterback situation is turning in to a mess, thanks to the acquisition of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-caller Josh Freeman and the rib injury to former starter Christian Ponder.
Ponder has been medically cleared to return to action, but the team has decided to roll with Matt Cassel in Week 6.
With the decision, it leaves Ponder on the outside looking in — especially when you consider Freeman’s contract suggests he will get a crack at the starting job once he is more familiar with the offense.
Because of the uncertainty with Ponder for where he will fit in to the new picture, he is becoming more and more frustrated with how it all is playing out.
“Some of the dynamics of this organization have changed obviously with bringing in Josh,” Ponder said, via 1500ESPN.com. “I would be lying if I didn’t say it was a little bit disappointing and frustrating.
“Again, I have no idea what is going to happen. I hope to still be here,. That’s the front office’s call. You never know, as we’ve seen in the past week, what’s going to happen.”
You never want to have an unhappy player in the locker room, but at times it is unavoidable.
Unfortunately for Ponder, the future suggests that he will be on the outs as the team starts to look in a new direction.
