Hall of Fame NFL cornerback Deion Sanders has dealt with his fair share of media controversies. Sanders had a very public and messy divorce with his wife. That all seemed to fade away over time. Now, he finds himself in hot water again.

Sanders was accused of assaulting an employee, finance administrator Kevin Jefferson, at the Dallas campus of Prime Prep Academy, a Fort Worth, Texas based charter school. Allegedly, Sanders grabbed him by the collar and shoved him against a wall.

Deion isn’t denying the confrontation, but not admitting assault. Sanders says he was concerned about the welfare of the kids, and that was the cause of the incident.

“Mr. Jefferson and I got into a confrontation about the welfare of these kids. And we’ll get into another one. Until you start taking care of these kids, I’m going to be on a rampage,” said Sanders.

Sanders was a co-founder of Prime Prep Academy, and the school is clearly named after his “Prime Time” nick name. Despite founding the school and it being named after him, he has been fired and relieved of his duties.

“Effective immediately, Deion Sanders is no longer an employee or representative for Prime Prep Academy,” reads the statement, attributed to Superintendent Rachel M. King-Sanders. “Prime Prep is committed to continually improving as an educational institution and it will continue to strive for excellence in every aspect.”

Deion Sanders hasn’t commented on the firing yet.
