Report: Robert Joseph Patterson charged with aggravated felony assault of Adrian Peterson’s son

UPDATE: Recent reports from the City Pages indicate that the child harmed was not Peterson’s son.

As more details emerge in the family issue surrounding Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson, the more disturbing it has become. Reports have stated that Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son has been severely beaten by the boyfriend of his mother which has landed him in critical condition.

One 27-year-old man in Souix Falls, South Dakota, Robert Joseph Patterson, has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant in the case.

Peterson missed Vikings practice on Thursday to travel to South Dakota and deal with the unfortunate situation.

TMZ passed along the report and states that Peterson’s son has severe head injuries that are consistent with abuse.

If everything in the report is to be believed, this is an incredibly difficult time for Peterson and his family. We can hope that the reports are false, but there appears to be mounting evidence that Patterson has done the unthinkable.

We can wish for the best and pass along our well wishes to Peterson and his loved ones until more information becomes available.

Anyone who hits a child deserves nothing but the best ass whoopin someone can lay down on them. I hope this report isn’t about lil Adrian.

It’s not Adrian Jr, but still, unbelievable. Let AD visit this scum in his jail cell.

Why would you say that it’s not Adrian’s son? What proof or sources are you basing that conclusion on?

Thank you Kyle. Silent, want to shut your mouth now?

Who cares what his name was? “I hope this report isn’t about lil Adrian” “It’s not Adrian Jr., but still…” I fail to see how, if the child’s name is Bill, Dominic, Rodney, Jorge, etc, anyone’s perception of this disturbing would be changed. Perhaps it was just a misread on my part.

“It wasn’t Peterson’s son after all? Whew, that’s a relief. I feel so much better knowing that this incredible piece of shit beat up someone else’s 2-year-old” This “top comment” on Deadspin illustrates the confusion of quick trigger commenters.

I don’t know how you could read my first post and interpreted that I didn’t think this was “disturbing”. I had heard that it was not Adrian Jr, so I was telling Kyle that.

I’d kill that guy if he was my son.
