Next Saturday, the third-ranked Clemson Tigers will welcome in the Florida State Seminoles for a primetime showdown with not only conference but national title implications on the line.

But first, the Tigers have to get the job done against the Boston College Eagles while FSU rests on their bye week.

Clemson welcomes Boston College into Death Valley for an ACC Atlantic Division showdown. The Tigers currently sit at 5-0 overall on the season, with their most recent victory coming last week, in yet again another dominant fashion, over the Syracuse Orange in the Carrier Dome.

Boston College is 3-2 on the season, also winning their contest last week, a 48-27 trouncing of the Army Black Knights.

While Clemson seems like the overwhelming favorite, and justifiably so, this has the potential to turn out to be not such an easy task to handle for the no. 3 ranked team in the land. Boston College, just a few weeks ago, looked as if they had FSU on the ropes, jumping out to an early 17-3 lead. This proves that the potential is there to possibly pull an upset before Clemson can even get to those Seminoles.

Odds: Clemson -24

Prediction: While the potential is indeed there, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will come to fruition. In that Florida State game, eventually the offensive firepower was too much to handle for the Eagles’ defense. Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins, Roderick McDowell and the rest of the Clemson offense should give them a little more of the same. With such a big matchup looming for Clemson next week, I doubt that head coach Dabo Swinney will let his players get too lax, as they continue to pursue that coveted national championship.
