Matt Barkley, a rookie out of the University of Southern California who didn’t throw at the NFL combine still managed to get picked up by a professional football team.

He’s been dealing with his right shoulder for some time now says that his right shoulder had some issues during the offseason.

"“It wasn’t 100 percent, I’ll admit that.” Barkley told Philly.com"

Barkley was brought in to possibly put his name into the quarterback competition between Nick Foles and Michael Vick. Ultimately the Eagles decided to roll with Vick as Barkley and Foles were forced to sit and watch on the sidelines.

This offense started out fast in Chip Kelly’s debut win against the Washington Redskins but other problems caused them to lose games in the next couple weeks. They still sit at the top of the division, but I’m sure they want to get back to Week 1 form and continue to perform at the level.

Now back to Barkley. According to Philly.com, the Eagles have Barkley prepared him to be ready like he’s starting each game. He’s had to make an adjustment coming from being a No. 1 starter in college, to being guy watching on the sidelines.

Welcome to the NFL kid. If Foles is unable to get things going, Barkley could get his number called within the next couple weeks or so.
