Buffalo Bills sign Matt Flynn
By Mike Dyce
After a lot of speculation and assuming, the Buffalo Bills made it official and signed quarterback Matt Flynn. They had activated Thaddeus Lewis and he started for the Bills on Sunday. Lewis did well, threw for 216 yards, two touchdowns, ran for another touchdown, and had the Bills in a position to win the game. He suffered an injury at one point during the game but played through it. That injury prompted the Bills to sign Flynn.
The move was praised wide receiver Stevie Johnson.
“That’s the business,” said Johnson. “When Thad got injured I think he played through the foot injury. I don’t know exactly what it is. We need to bring guys in so our team can stay strong. We think it’s a good move.”
Like the Josh Freeman situation in Minnesota, Flynn will sit and learn the Bills’ system and Thad Lewis will start if he is healthy. If Lewis isn’t healthy, Jeff Tuel could starter.
Bills starting quarterback E.J. Manuel is ahead of schedule in his injury recovery, but hasn’t began rehabbing yet. He will begin on-field workouts and that will answer a lot of questions about his progress and when he could return.
