Remember when LeBron James declared for the NBA draft and quickly signed a shoe deal for 7 years and $93 million dollars? That was insane considering he had never played a game in the NBA. It was still unknown whether he’d live up to the hype around him or buckle under the pressure.

Well Kansas has their own superstar in-waiting in freshman Andrew Wiggins. He hasn’t played for Kansas officially yet but has already graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. Like James, Wiggins has a lot of hype about his abilities and is already projected to go number one overall in the NBA draft.

Shoe companies are already preparing to make offers and preparing deals to lock Wiggins in.

According to Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report:

"“From what I’m hearing, (Adidas) is really high on him,” an industry source said. “I’ve heard a range for sure, from like $140 to $180 million for like 10 years. That’s a big deal for a kid coming out of school because most rookie deals are probably like four years.”“I’m hearing from people at Kansas that he’s got a $180 million offer supposedly coming from Adidas,” a source close to Wiggins’ inner circle said. “But I also heard that Nike is going to match anything.”"

It certainly is an incredible amount of money to throw at a teenager. Wiggins will be only 19 next spring. Hopefully the pressure doesn’t hurt Wiggins and he can handle it as well as LeBron has. You’d hate to see someone as talented as he is buckle under pressure.
