Week 6 was an upside-down, topsy-turvy week in fantasy football with some normally reliable options struggling and some normally disappointing players pouring it on. To demonstrate how bizarre this week was-Peyton Manning even looked mortal! Hopefully, your fantasy team like Manning’s Broncos managed to stay unbeaten this weekend, but wherever your record has you it’s time to begin your playoff push.

A big part of that push is getting the right players off of waiver wires. Each Tuesday right here on Fansided.com, you can find our top 10 waiver wire pickups for the coming week. In each top 10, I include at least one quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end as well as a team defense with a favorable matchup in case you are streaming defenses or looking for a one-week fill in. Throughout the rest of the week, keep coming back to Fansided’s fantasy page where you’ll find continuing coverage and analysis to help you get the win you need in week 7.

All players on the list or in the “best of the rest” are available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues as of Monday and their ownership percentages are included in parentheses. That means that some of the players on the list in the past (last week’s post available here) like Justin Blackmon (pictured above), Danny Woodhead, Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Cameron, Julius Thomas, Kenbrell Thompkins, Bilal Powell, and Julian Edelman are no longer eligible to appear even though they still make good pickups if they’re available.

If you’re not sure about your waiver claim or want some personalized advice, feel free to ask me on twitter @ZT_Sports or include the question in a comment at the bottom of the page. I’ll do my best to answer all your questions as quickly as possible.

All scoring references are from NFL.com’s default scoring which simply is used to give a common baseline to work from. Adjust appropriately your team and league scoring system.

Here’s my top ten additions headed into week 7:

Would you drop Miles Austin this week? I am looking to pick up Stevan Ridley or Reuben/Joseph Randle off waivers. I can also drop Jeff Cumberland, but was looking at switching him for Toilolo before anyone catches him.

    • Beau Bradshaw

Yes, Austin seems to have ran his course this season. With Dez and Witten as the 2 main guys and Terrance Williams stepping up Austin seems to be on the outside looking in. If you can grab a guy such as Rueben Randle who has proven to be more productive this season than Austin or a guy like Joseph Randle who could be the starting RB for anywhere from 1-4 weeks its worth dropping Miles Austin. When it comes to Ridley, his been fickle all season and unreliable and with Vereen set to return later this season, he may lose more playing time. However, a waiver add isnt a bad move.

    • Fantasy CPR

I’d go ahead and drop Austin. Jospeh Randle is a nice option if you need short-term help, but I like Reuben Randle the most out of the options u mentioned.

Starting QB this week J. Cutler @ Was or Matt Ryan v TB? 8 Man Standard League
I would normally go Matt Ryan but nervous with limited wide receivers. Also debating trying to pick up Foles off the waiver wire. I like that chip kelly offense and had to drop Vick to pick up Cutler last week. And if I do pick up Foles who do I drop Cutler or Ryan?

    • Fantasy CPR

The Redskins defense is pretty awful against the pass. I’d play Cutler and hold Ryan to see how he does this week.

  • John

Do I drop Cobb? I have seen he is going to be out at least 6 weeks. But if he comes back in 6 he could help me in the payoffs?
8 Man Standard League 2 WR 2 RB and flex

    • Fantasy CPR

I would go ahead and drop him if there is anything available that can help you. He can’t practice for six week and can’t play until week 15. Would you really feel comfortable playing him his first week back? go see who else is out there….

Now for running backs. I have Doug Martin, MJD, Ridley, Fred Jackson, and B. Tate. I feel Doug Martin is still locked as my RB1. Every time I bench MJD he gets in the end zone. Ridley finally had his first good game of the year. Fred Jackson had his first start on my team and his first weak under 10 Points. And B. Tate I am just stashing if Foster gets injured.
Who is my RB2 and are any of them flex worthy over Josh Gordan if I start Cruz and Jordy Nelson for WR?

8 Man Standard League 2 WR 2 RB and flex

Also if I can, do I try to pick up Z. Stacy, J. Randle, B. Jacobs, or R. Matthews for a new RB and if I do who do I drop?

    • Fantasy CPR

well, I agree that Martin is top option. I would drop Jackson and grab Stacy. This week, I’d start MJD and Martin and then most likely Martin with Stacy or Ridley going forward…. Randle, Jacobs are short-term option, IMO

      • John

        Thanks for the help

  • David

Hey! You answered my question so well last week that I came back to ask you again. I have my WRs all sorted this week, and I will be playing 3 RBs (one being at the flex spot). Who would you suggest bewteen Ridley, Lacy, Ellington, Randle (who I did manage to pickup somehow!), and Doug Martin?

    • Fantasy CPR

I think Lacy is the way to go since he’ll get plenty of carries with the absence of the receivers in GB. The Browns have been good against the pass, but have struggled at times against the run making Lacy the best option…. very nice depth overall though at RB… good work

  • David

Actually I do have WR question for you, do you think its worth giving Brandon LaFell the nod over AJ Green or Torrey Smith this week? I know it seems dumb, but the consensus is that Green wont be too hot this week, while Lafell is projected to do very well

    • Fantasy CPR

I wouldn’t start him over Green, but I would play him over Smith. Torrey has struggled against Ike Taylor and the Steelers in the past and LaFell should have a very nice game against the Rams. go Green, and go LaFell.

  • Mark Weinstein

I’m on an 8 team CBS FFB standard league. I’ve got Bilal Powell, Frank Gore and Trent Richardson slated to play this weekend, and Zach Stacy & Andre Ellington on my bench. Ogbannaya is the top RB available on waivers – should I keep my roster status quo or pick up Ogbannaya or Helu or Snelling to replace Powell? Any thoughts on stashing Chris Ivory?

    • Fantasy CPR

Ivory/Powell is a tough call since ultimately I think Ivory is the better back even though he gets less carries at this point. You’re pretty solid at the position so I wouldn’t drop any of your 5 for those options on the wire unless your ok waiting for Ivory to pass Powell for the Jets…

      • Mark Weinstein

OK, so if I’m benching Powell this week, who do I play in his place? Stacy or Ellington? Stacy may be somewhat limited and Ellington is going against the Seahawks D… ugh

        • Fantasy CPR

I’d go ahead and start Powell based on who you have. I just meant that Ivory on waivers was appealing if you could wait. for now, Powell is the way to go.

  • Off the Dial

I’m in a 12 team ESPN H2H league and heard that it’s best to bench Ridley this week. I’ve got Gore/Jacobs (RB) and Johnson/Jeffery (WR) set to play with Mendenhall/Ellington (RB) and Simpson (WR) on the bench. I also have Hartline, Marvin Jones, Riley Cooper, Brandon Lafell, and Khiry Robinson available in my league for immediate pickup. What’s my best move?

    • Fantasy CPR

I think you’re pretty much right on. the Ridley/Jacobs question is tricky. I personally would go Ridley but understand the hesitancy. I just can’t trust Jacobs to get it done, but if you can-go for it!

What about defense? What are your thoughts on the lions? I also picked up the dolphins but have reservations. Also considering the Panthers, thoughts?
