Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J.Manuel is still dealing with a sprained knee that he suffered against the Cleveland Browns on October 3, and the Bills are planning to move forward without him in their immediate plans.

The team recently went out and added journeyman back up Matt Flynn to the roster to join Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis, but the Bills are still hopefully that they can get Manuel back midway through next month.

“He’s here constantly going through the rehab process with our training staff,” Bills CEO Russ Brandon said ”Hopefully he’ll continue to progress. I don’t have a timetable at this point, but hopefully we can get E.J. back on the field as soon as possible. I know that’s what he wants too. Coach will address it later today. Hopefully we’ll have him back in the next month or so.”

With the current timetable, Manuel could miss five more games before he is able to return.

That is obviously not what the Bills had hoped for when they chose him in the first-round of this year’s draft, but injuries are part of the game and they will need Tuel, Lewis or Flynn to step up their play and notch a few wins in the meantime.
