According to Pro Football Talk, San Diego Chargers kicker Nick Novak has been named the AFC’s special teams player of the week after a 19-9 Monday night victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Novak completed all four of his field goals, including a 50-yarder in the last two minutes. While the kick didn’t win the game, it put the Chargers up by two scores, a margin the Colts were not able to overcome.

The San Diego native has been clutch for the Chargers this year, making all six of his field goals over 40 yards. His outstanding play this year has been a major boost for the Bolts, as all six of their games have been decided by 10 or fewer points, with three coming down to just three points.

While Novak’s performance only got the Chargers back to .500 in a loaded AFC West, the win will hopefully spark a winning streak for the Chargers, who play the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins over the next two weeks.
