According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, the Cincinnati Bengals were without starting cornerback Terence Newman today, as he was among several players not on the field today for practice:
"Cornerback Terence Newman Newman, who missed 15 plays with a hip injury Sunday before returning to finish, wasn’t dressed for Wednesday’s practice but worked on the side. Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) and defensive tackle Devon Still (unknown) were out. Three injured players not yet on the roster but eligible to practice Wednesday – wide receiver Andrew Hawkins (ankle), fullback Chris Pressley (knee) and quarterback Zac Robinson (elbow _ weren’t on the field."
The Bengals need all of their corners to be a full-go on Sunday as they prepare to face one of the league’s top passing offenses, led by All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson, widely regarded as the league’s best receiver.
The fact that Newman was working on the side is a good indicator that the team is just giving him some veteran rest, and they may do that tomorrow as well. He just needs a full-go during Friday’s session to be prepared to start Sunday.
