Joe Thomas Describes Support for Weeden as ‘Unwavering’

There has been a ton of speculation about the support of Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden but at least publicly, his teammates are coming out and defending him.  Browns left tackle Joe Thomas described the support for Weeden within the locker room as ‘unwavering’.  He also said that he believes Weeden can lead the team to the playoffs and told reporters he does not focus on the occasional bad play (obviously referring to the backhanded flip pass that was intercepted against the Lions) but the majority of plays which he feels are good.

The attitude around the Browns is getting to the point from most fans that they will take anyone but Weeden at quarterback at this point.  There are only so many options available and one of them, Jason Campbell has been described by some in the local media including Will Burge of Bleacherreport as not necessarily being all that gung ho about going in and playing.

Nevertheless, rumors are all over the place, even with Tim Tebow who was reported as being seen at Cleveland Hopkins Airport yesterday.  That rumor was put to rest by the Browns who told Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com that the Browns had no interest in Tebow.  Whether the Browns are really behind Weeden or just realize there are no other options is up for discussion.  The Browns are stuck with what they have until the offseason when the likelihood is they will bring in another quarterback in the NFL Draft as well as having a healthy Brian Hoyer back from his ACL injury next year.  The Browns are tasked with going to Green Bay to take on the Packers in Lambeau this week and then face the Chiefs and the Ravens before they get to the bye, so this could get a lot uglier before it gets better.
