On Tuesday, some reports had surfaced that the NFL league office was tossing around the idea of adding an additional Thursday Night Football game per week for the future, which was immediately met with a negative response from players and fans alike.

The Thursday night product has left plenty to be desired as players play on short rest, so many people were wondering why adding another Thursday night game would even be a thought worth entertaining.

As it turns on, the league hasn’t discussed the Thursday night double-header idea — at least that is their story, and they are sticking to it.

From Brian McCarthy of the NFL’s public relations office:

Adding an additional game would be a scheduling nightmare and it could also bring up the discussion about whether or not the league really cares about player health.

Of course, you could understand the league wanting to set up as many prime time games in as many markets as possible, but for now that is not part of their plan.
