Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson played only 38 snaps against the Cleveland Browns. He is trying to recover from a sprained right knee. In those 38 snaps, he was targeted 8 times and caught 3 passes for 25 yards. The Lions will be looking to expand his role against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I would think so,” offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said, via the Detroit Free Press. “It’s not an overnight thing to get back to 100%, but he’s working very hard to get there, so I don’t see why there’s any reason he wouldn’t be able to have a few more (plays) this week. But it has everything to do with how the game goes.”

The Lions will need Calvin Johnson in this game It is the second week in a row they’re going up against a Top 10 pass defense. Stafford didn’t struggle with the Bengals defense however completing 25 of 43 passes for 248 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

“I’ve been doing a lot of things to get this thing right,” Johnson said. “It’s definitely getting better.”

With Johnson in a less limited role they should be better, but it will still be a tough hurdle. The Bengals run defense comes in at 11th as well.
