There’s one thing you don’t want to do when you’re a professional athlete and that’s get in trouble with the league itself.

Actually, when you want to be a responsible professional athlete, you should just avoid anything that could change the course of your career or else you’ll regret it down the line.

I understand most prospects are young, but they’re old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. What Tampa Bay Rays’ prospect Taylor Guerrieri happens to be doing, is wrong.

According to Jon Heyman on Twitter, Guerrieri tested positive for marijuana. Apparently this isn’t his first time he’s failed the drug test. So with him failing the drug test, he has been handed a 50 game suspension by the league.

Back in High School, Guerrieri was forced to switch schools due to a drinking incident which caused him to slip into the later rounds of the draft. Teams are going to look at stuff like this and be worried about your character.

It’s not only how you play on the field, but how well will you represent the organization. He’s still recovering from Tommy John surgery so he’ll more than likely miss the entire 2014 season. He can still serve the suspension while he’s injured.
