Midway in the third quarter, the Stanford Cardinal have come out firing in the second half against the undefeated UCLA Bruins after quite the uneventful first half. The two defenses of these squads battled each other on the way to a 3-0 halftime score.
But, it didn’t take long for the Stanford offense to try and get everything rolling after UCLA knotted things up at three with a field goal.
A few minutes after the Bruins hit the field goal, Stanford answered with the first touchdown of the game, and it was a beauty.
QB Kevin Hogan dropped back and fired a 30-yard pass over the middle in the end zone to WR Kodi Whitfield, a pass that Whitfield was able to come down with in between two defenders–with ONE hand:
That spectacular play gave Stanford a 10-3 lead, and they’ve since scored another touchdown on a one-yard run from Tyler Gaffney, following the defense intercepting Bruins QB Brett Hundley, giving them a 17-3 lead now.
