Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins halftime recap

The Washington Redskins are looking like a team who want to prove to the rest of the league that they are still for real.

Last years run by the Redskins was one of the highlights of the league. Having both RG3 and Alfred Morris running all over opponents last season, things have started off slow during the first half of this season.

Today against the Chicago Bears, both RG3 and Morris have been able to find running lanes early on and move the chains a couple times themselves. They have a combined 101 rushing yards in the first half, while RG3 has passed for 152 yards.

Jordan Reed right now has been the main target for Griffin in Washington’s passing game as he was able to bring in six catches for 87 yards and a touchdown with his longest being 38.

This Chicago Bears defensive front hasn’t had much pressure on RG3 as he’s still able to find his targets down field.

Jay Cutler was brought down for a sack by Chris Baker and stayed down. Cutler remained on the turf until he limped to the sidelines on his own. He then made his way to the locker room but was unable to walk the rest of the way himself so they put him on a golf cart and assisted him to get X-Rays.

Cutler suffered a groin injury, so it’s not that serious of an issue and should be back after the bye week.

Despite having a total of 47 yards in the first half of this game, Chicago is still in it.

Hester finally got things going as he returned a punt for 81 yards to tie the game at 17-17 with 6:15 minutes in the game.

RG3 and the Redskins were able to drive down field with the ball as they had the ball with some time before the two minute warning and capped off the drive with a three yard touchdown toss to tight end Jordan Reed.

The Redskins currently lead the Chicago Bears 24-17 at the half. Washington received the ball to open up the game, so Chicago will open up the second half with the ball.

Top performers so far.

RG3 – 10/17 154 passing yards, one touchdown and interception with six carries and 58 rushing yards.

Alfred Morris – 13 carries for 45 yards

Jordan Reed – six receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown

Devin Hester has an 81 yard punt return

Charles Tillman and Brian Orakpo have an interception a piece but the Texas Longhorn alumni was able to return it for six points.

Not much to say about Chicago’s offense since they are being held to under 50 yards of total offense.

Cutler was 3/8 for 28 yards and one interception

Josh McCown has 10 rushing yards, one more than Matt Forte.

Marshall is the only Bears receiver who has a reception. He currently has three receptions for 28 yards.

Cutler may be out for the remainder of this game, but this team is still in it. This team has kept themselves in ball games with just their special teams and defense. If McCown is unable to get things going, this defense and special teams are going to have to play offense.
