Love them or hate them, for my generation, Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are the voices of October baseball.

For me, I love it.

Yes, McCarver tends to make some ridiculous observations, while Buck seemingly ignores the remarks and continues with the broadcast – trying to keep the viewers’ attention focused on the game.

The duo is getting ready to begin their final World Series together, with McCarver set to step down at the end of the year. It’s the end of an era.

There is perhaps no greater moment for me in the history of this duo than Buck’s call of David Freese’s 2011 World Series home run that emulated his father’s historic call. “We will see you.. tomorrow night.”

Amidst the cheers of thousands of St. Louis fans, that call still echoes in my mind. The people I watched the game with were all going crazy, and that, for me, is what baseball is all about.

McCarver is wrapping up his 18th season of calling professional baseball for FOX, and he has himself a World Series that should be one of the best in recent memory.

So, one more time, fellas. It’s Joe Buck and Tim McCarver bringing you the World Series, on FOX.
