Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne suffered a knee injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s big win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football, after attempting to adjust to a third-and-one throw that was well behind him.

Wayne was in obvious pain and very emotional as he limped back to the locker room, but his quarterback also was upset about the play.

Following the game, Andrew Luck was being interviewed at mid-field to discuss the big win, but he took some time to speak about the throw that led to the Wayne injury.

“It was my fault. Terrible throw,” Luck said after the game was over. “We know he’s a fighter. He’s our team leader so it hurts when he’s not out here, but we are hoping for the best.”

Wayne was initially diagnosed with a knee sprain and was ruled out, but there is some fear that the injury could be worse.

We will know more about Wayne’s status on Monday after he undergoes further testing.
