Another week of NFL action has concluded and another set of heroes and scapegoats emerged. So the FanSided team has huddled together to decide on our weekly awards.

Offensive Player Of the Week

Bryan Rose: Calvin Johnson – Tough decision here between Johnson and Matte Forte, who scored three touchdowns but Johnson was constantly fighting through double and triple-teams against the Bengals and still put up two touchdowns on 155 receiving yards.

Josh Sanchez: Andrew Luck – He put his big boy pants on Sunday night and was able to spoil Peyton Manning’s homecoming. There is no question that the Colts made the right move in taking Luck and parting ways with Peyton.

Mike Dyce: Andrew Luck – I was tempted to go with Matthew Stafford, Andy Dalton, or Matt Forte. Ultimately, I chose Luck. He went into a high pressure game against a top opponent and beat them. He threw for 3 touchdowns and rushed for another. That is putting a team on your pack.

Defensive Player of the Week –

Bryan Rose: Tamba Hali – It wasn’t a stat busting week for any defensive player in the league, though Hali filled it up as much as one could with five tackles, an assist, two and a half sacks and two forced fumbles. Clearly the runaway winner this week.

Josh Sanchez: Robert Mathis – He made his impact felt early and made sure that Peyton Manning was unable to find him rhythm. The big hit early on seemed to hurt Manning and his arm wasn’t the same from that moment on.

Mike Dyce: Mario Williams – He might not have had the best stat line, but he had 3 tackles and two sacks. One of those sacks jarred the ball loose and helped set up the Bills game-winning drive.

Dud of the Week –

Bryan Rose: Vikings/Giants – Instead of a player, I’m going with two teams who looked like they never played a game of football before. And did so in front of a national audience. Lovely.

Josh Sanchez: Josh Freeman. Quite frankly, he stinks.

Mike Dyce: The Vikings offensive coordinator – I know they stacked the box, but that didn’t stop Adrian Peterson from rushing for over 2,000 yards last season. No one was worried about Christian Ponder beating them in 2012. How do you call 53 pass plays for Josh Freeman who has been with the team a week and not force feed the ball the one-man wrecking crew in your back field.

Play of the Week –

Bryan Rose: Calvin Johnson – Giving this one to Megatron again who pulled down a 50-yard touchdown catch between THREE (!!) Bengals defenders. Honorable mention goes to Kansas City’s Alex Smith who had the best handoff to a ghost, ever.

Josh Sanchez: Calvin Johnson – Catching the ball in triple-coverage, it doesn’t get much better than that. Megatron is simply unguardable and he continues to show that he is the best in the league.

Mike Dyce: Calvin Johnson – Seriously, that catch in triple-coverage only drew attention away from another incredible catch he made in the game. The man was just incredible, but that catch was something remarkable.
