Riddled with losing season after losing season, NFL great Barry Sanders decided to hang up the cleats well before his body told him he needed to and according to Ray Lewis, he feels the same may happen to Minnesota Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson.

Lewis, who watched the Vikings get drubbed on Monday Night Football while doing analyst work for ESPN suggested that Peterson may need to make a ‘business decision’ and walk away given the awful team put around the franchise running back:

"“Me going out on that field tonight and me looking at Adrian Peterson’s eyes, it’s something that I want to bring up that I don’t want to see happen to this young kid. Because we saw it happen to a great one one time before, which was Barry Sanders,” Lewis began. “If he keeps going down this road, he’s going to have to make a business decision just like Barry Sanders made a while ago.”"

The former Baltimore Ravens great continued on suggesting that the Vikings organization needs to make some priority moves to get back to being a respectable team before Peterson was forced with making such a decision.

Granted, the life expediency of running backs in the NFL isn’t great and even for somebody as talented and physically gifted as Peterson, his clock will tick too. That said, I have a hard time thinking Peterson walks away from the game before he physically needs to do so.
