Now that Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant has tried to smooth over his comments about Detroit Lions’ wide receiver Calvin Johnson, the football world can stop gossiping and actually talk about the matchups in a key NFC game.

In terms of individual battles, Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr is excited about covering Johnson.

“This one is more special,” Carr told the Star-Telegram. “He is the best receiver in the league. For my coaches to have confidence to allow me to go out there and challenge him for 60 minutes, it gives me confidence. Now, it’s time to go play and time to have fun.”

On the season, Carr, a six-year veteran out of Grand Valley State, has 25 tackles and two interceptions.

Johnson, who set an NFL record with 1,964 yards receiving last season, has 33 receptions for 492 yards and six touchdowns this season. He is coming off his best game of the season, a nine-catch, 155-yard, two-touchdown performance in a 27-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Both the Cowboys and the Lions enter the game, which will kickoff at 1:00 pm EST, at 4-3.
