Shortly after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, 32 year old nose tackle Jay Ratliff has been medically cleared to resume football related activities.

Ratliff has dealt with multiple injuries over the last couple of seasons. He’s been dealing with a hamstring injury, abdomen issues and suffered a groin injury during training camp which has kept him out of action this season.

It wasn’t much of a surprise when the Cowboys decided to cut ties with with him. But the news of him being cleared to play the rest of this season has to be great for teams who need a guy like Ratliff in the middle of their line.

Teams from across the league will most likely have their eyes set on Ratliff in hopes of a rebounding half of the season. He may not get a long-term deal right away, but he’s expected to start working out for teams in a couple of weeks.

A shame really, I would have liked to see how he progressed as a player with Rod Marinelli in Dallas.
