Shortly after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, 32 year old nose tackle Jay Ratliff has been medically cleared to resume football related activities.

Ratliff has dealt with multiple injuries over the last couple of seasons. He’s been dealing with a hamstring injury, abdomen issues and suffered a groin injury during training camp which has kept him out of action this season.

It wasn’t much of a surprise when the Cowboys decided to cut ties with with him. But the news of him being cleared to play the rest of this season has to be great for teams who need a guy like Ratliff in the middle of their line.

Teams from across the league will most likely have their eyes set on Ratliff in hopes of a rebounding half of the season. He may not get a long-term deal right away, but he’s expected to start working out for teams in a couple of weeks.

A shame really, I would have liked to see how he progressed as a player with Rod Marinelli in Dallas.

He should forfeit all pay…..clearly he was able to play but had a fight with Jerry Jones and vowed he wouldn’t play for Dallas again…The Cowboys should sue his lazy ass for theft…..

Yeah I’d like to know what the real situation there was.

We’ll get a tell-all book from the lochness monster before that happens.

How did this happen? It does sound like something else was going on. Good riddance. Expensive, but good riddance.

James is right, they should go after his pay.
Wouldn’t it be nice if players were paid on performance.

Hmmm. Last week, Ratliff was a cripple who couldn’t get out of bed to take a physical. And, this week, he’s been cleared to play again? Really? There’s something else going on here folks. I’ll bet you a box of Cracker Jacks that little tilt last season between Ratliff and Jones about him not having the guts to play hurt had more to it than we know so far. What do you bet, particularly since Ratliff refused this off season to train at the Cowboy’s facilities or be seen on a regular basis by the Cowboy medics, that he made up his mind he’d rather sit out of football altogether than play another snap for Jones? Something’s happened or he’d still be wearing the Star. We’re going to be finding out real soon. If he takes a physical for another team and fails, it’s all on Ratliff for not listening to his coaches. If he takes the physical for another team and suits up, it’s all on Jerry Jones for pissing him off to the point that he left the Cowboys out of spite.
