Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been playing incredibly well the past few weeks and the Panthers are on a three-game winning streak as a result. In the most recent blowout win Newton threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, with 50 yards and another touchdown on the ground, but following the game he wouldn’t take credit for his outstanding play.

Instead, Newton decided to show off some leadership and maturity by crediting those around him.

“I feel as if my production is off a lot of people’s production as well,” Newton said following the game, via the team’s official website. “If you want to solely say I’m playing great, it also means a lot of other guys are playing great. This is not a one-man show. I understand that, and I will not have that type of attitude.”

The Panthers have scored 30 or more points in all of their wins, and Newton has been a big part of that.

If he wants to thank his teammates and shine the spotlight on them, the main attention should go to the defensive side of the ball.

Carolina’s defense, which is one of the best in the league, has allowed twenty points or more just twice this season. If they can continue to play dominant defense while having turnover free football on the offensive side of the ball, Newton and the teammates he credits will continue enjoying their success all the way to the postseason.
