The Cleveland Browns have one of the most promising young wide receivers in the league on their roster in Josh Gordon, but he is one misstep away from being handed a season long suspension from the league.

Gordon has had his fair share of off-field issues, but current teammate Willis McGahee believes all Gordon needs is a positive mentor that can provide veteran leadership.

Josh is a good kid,” said McGahee, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “He just needs that other veteran receiver to show him to see how things go. Just throwing names out there like Andre (Johnson). If he had a guy like Andre, he would see how he works.”

The good news is that McGahee believes Gordon will find a way to stay on the right track.

“Yeah, he’s going to get it,” said McGahee. “Everybody gets it. It just depends on when. I didn’t get it until my fourth or fifth year. And I was like, ‘all right, I gotta start eating right and gotta start doing this.’ That’s part of life. That’s part of growing.

“He has the talent. You can see it in him. He’s going to put it together in a minute.”

Gordon has been the subject of many trade rumors leading up to next week’s trade deadline, but the team has been adamant that they have no plans to trade away their top receiving option. All they need to do is make sure that Gordon continues on the path that he is currently on and they can continue to build their offense with a stud wide receiver on the outside.
