With backlash at an all-time high, it’s simply a matter of time before the Washington Redskins change their team name and mascot.

Now, according to TMZ Sports, we might have a possible leak as to the teams new name – the Washington Bravehearts? Yep – according to TMZ, a neighbor of Dan Snyder (who just happens to be a wealthy patent investor) Aris Mardirossian, registered the name ‘Washington Bravehearts’ on October 17th with the explanation that it will be used for “entertainment in the nature of football games”.

On the same day, Mardirossian also formed a company registered under Washington Bravehearts, LLC:

"Here’s what we know.  Redskins owner Dan Snyder lives in Potomac, Maryland, a few doors down from a very rich dude, Aris Mardirossian. Aris, a wealthy patent investor, registered the name, WASHINGTON BRAVEHEARTS on October 17th.   According to the Trademark application, obtained by TMZSports, Aris plans to use the name for “Entertainment in the nature of football games.”"

So what does all of this mean? Well, depending on your viewpoint it could mean a ton or it could mean nothing. Maybe it’s just Mardirossian forming his own business that just so happens to be located in Washington. Maybe it’s an attempt to sell Snyder on the team name, considering he is a patent investor. Or maybe he knows a bit more than he wants to lead on.

It’s all speculation and questions at this point, though TMZ said when they did reach out to Mardirossian – he simply hung up on them.
