There were some rumblings in the NFL world today that led many to believe the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be making the decision to shut down wide receiver Mike Williams. There were some concerns that Williams’ injury was much worse than it appeared and, while the team has not yet officially confirmed anything, Williams has passed along news that his hamstring is significantly injured.

If true, there is no doubt that Williams would be placed on injured reserve and miss the remainder of the season.

From Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune:

It is unlikely that Williams would be passing along news that he has a torn hamstring if he has not heard the results from a medical professional, so it is very likely that the report is true.

We should expect an official statement from the Buccaneers in the coming days if Williams is indeed going to miss the remainder of the year.
