ESPN analyst and Hooter’s proselytizer Jon Gruden spoke at a Gateway Bank event on Friday, and he was his usual weird self. Gruden touched on a variety of topics, including his disappointment in the 2013 Tamp Bay Buccaneers, but two of the highlights were his opinion on Tim Tebow and his stories about Steve Spurrier.

Here’s Gruden on Tebow:

"If you’re going to have Tebow as a quarterback, it’s got to be a full-court press to let him be the kind of quarterback he is. Let’s quit trying to change the way he plays the position (Ocala Star Banner)."

Gruden went on to talk about South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, whom he joking said was crazy:

"I spent three days with him. I was a speaker at his clinic. He ran a series of plays with no-back sets — empty formation — and five eligibles out in the route. There was about two or three plays I couldn’t understand, but the receiver was always wide open. So, I asked Steve to explain it to me. Not even he could explain it to me. He said, ‘All I know the guy is open and we’re going to get him the damn ball.’"

Unfortunately, there were no Spider 3 Y-Banana references made, so you aren’t required to do a shot as per the rules of the Jon Gruden Drinking Game.
