Buffalo Bills head coach says C.J. Spiller has high-ankle sprain
By Bryan Rose
For the past few weeks, we’ve seen a less than impressive C.J. Spiller take the field though on Sunday, the oft-injured running back didn’t play. Some questioned why considering Spiller has played through the bum ankle, but according to head coach Doug Marrone, Spiller has more than just an ankle sprain – it’s of the high ankle variety.
"Chances for Spiller and Lawson for the Chiefs game, #Bills Marrone: “I’m gonna wait.” Says Spiller’s injury is a high ankle sprain."
Marrone didn’t really elaborate on the injury, so it’s not clear if this is a newly diagnosed injury or if Spiller had been playing through the high ankle sprain, which are notoriously painful and extremely difficult to heal from.
Either way, it’s clearly not good news for the Bills or Spiller if he does indeed have a high ankle sprain as Marrone suggests.
It will likely take multiple weeks of rest to get Spiller back onto the field in a productive capacity if he does indeed have a high ankle sprain.
