Jerry Jones says Deion Sanders could cover Calvin Johnson

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t have a cornerback on their roster who could stop Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Megatron caught 14 passes for 329 yards and a touchdown. There is one Cowboys cornerback who could have. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked on his morning radio show if Deion Sanders in his prime could shut down Megatron.

“Yes, I do. That’s just it,” Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM, via ESPN Dallas. “Deion has such catch-up speed and he had real good center-field ability, and I mean that … in [a] football sense. He could really play the ball and he had such ability to get into position to play the ball.

“Now, you’re talking about the greatest cover guy maybe that’s played this game. I’ve seen where he’s been declared the greatest cover guy. Hall of Famer. But I do think he could do a real good job on Johnson. Johnson’s going to get some probably, but I think he could do a great job. Deion’s a great player.”

Deion isn’t a fan of comparing eras though.

Hell. If Jones is gonna play woulda, shoulda, coulda, then I could cover Johnson.

Jones is a douche. Sanders is 6’1″. Think he can jump with Megatron? Me neither.

It is not the case of Deion jumping with MegaTron, it is based on the belief that Deion would use all of the tricks in his bag, whether it was smack talking, continually smacking arms/wrists, or battling for the ball when Johnson wraps his hands around it.

Oh, I’m sure he’d do all that and more, but it wouldn’t do him any good. He couldn’t cover Randy Moss either…

Well after drafting Claibourne in first round and the “money” given he should be able to cover Mega.. or anyone for that matter! He has not nearly lived up to expectation at all! I’m pissed!
