The shots at Dwight Howard continue to fire from Los Angeles.

According to Lakers’ forward Pau Gasol, the team is much more positive this season.

“I think everything happens for a reason and this preseason has been much more positive than last year’s and we’ve done things a lot better,” Gasol told Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles. “The atmosphere, the attitude of players, the togetherness of the team has been really positive. Now, let’s see if that helps us. Hopefully that’s a big factor for us starting tonight and moving forward.”

The expectations for the Lakers were huge last year. After all, the team added the game’s best center in Dwight Howard through a four-team trade with the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers and acquired future Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns.

However, everything went wrong. The team struggled, Bryant was injured and they lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Now, with Bryant injured, Nash limited and Howard with the Rockets, expectations are very low.

That appears to be the way Gasol likes it.
